This sideknife of American manufacture is an early 20th century product of the Eureka Cutlery Company of Nicholson, Pennsylvania. Eureka Cutlery was in operation from 1911 through 1915 and produced items under its own name and also under other brands.
The handsome knife measures a total of 10¼” long, point to pommel and features a double-edged, diamond-shaped, forged steel blade. The very sharp, 7” long, spear point blade has a 3/8” wide ricasso that bears a maker’s stamp of “EUREKA / CUTLERY COMPY”. The handsome blade has been buffed to a high bright scheen and is free of blemishes. Opposite ricasso is plain. Handle is of two piece stag bone. Guard and inlay are of polished coin-silver with a brass wash.
Scabbard cover is of Morrocan leather veneer with coin-silver at the drag tip and at the throat. Throat missing the body rivet. Leather decorated with gold-tooled designs and its surface shows just slight wear. A fine bowie knife at a great price.
