GERMAN HUNTING CLUB DRESS DAGGER & SCABBARD

$395.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: E2610

Overall length of the dagger is approx. 19.25 inches from point to pommel.

The blade looks to have been shortened and the point obviously re-ground. Spine of the blade is rounded while the true edge has several minor nicks. Blade surface is bright with light scattered mottling. Obverse side of blade is etched with the scene of a herd of deer in the woods with mountains and clouds in the background. The reverse side is etched with a hunter in the woods taking aim at a grazing deer. As stated above the point was re-ground leaving behind obvious signs of the work.

The hilt of the dagger is made of knurled staghorn with a plain flat brass pommel cap and ferrule. Guard has a square brass center with extensions on each side done to look like deer legs and hoofs. One faces upward while the other faces downward. Obverse side of the guard has a clamshell shaped ear with the raised decoration of a deer and fawn in the woods.

Dagger comes with a leather scabbard in nice condition with a plain brass drag and throat. Mounted on throat is an acorn shaped tab for attaching to a frog.   [ad]
