Maker marked on the ricasso, “JOSEPH ALLEN & SONS / SHEFFIELD ENGLAND”, and, “NON-XLL” near the false edge. Measures 11 ¼” total length, blade measures 6 7/8” long. Knife has a clipped point single-edged blade. Blade has light spots or mottling and a few very tiny nicks.
Antler handle has no cracks or chips. Knife features a brass guard. Knife is post- Civil War era.
Brown leather scabbard has light scuffs with heavy crazing at the tip and top side seam from use. Stitching on reverse is tight. [sm]
