Maker-mark (stamped on sheath); “Bradly Brothers/ 1918”. Ricasso markings: (obverse) “U.S./ Mod 1917”, (reverse) “Plumb/ Phila./179”. Overall length 15”. Single edge, flaring blade, tapering to spear tip point: 10.25 length, 1.25” width at base. 3.5” iron cross guard, 4.5” knuckle-notched wooden handle w/rivets and birds-head brass cap. Heavy khaki webbed sheath w/belt hook attachment and leather reinforced tip.
Smooth dark blade exhibit minor scratching. Hilt assembly display minor wear. Solid sheath. Webbing VG plus, w/block of indecipherable ink lettering. Leather tip exhibit light wear and scuffing. Overall, VG. An unusual US military blade….and formidable. [AD]
