[See Reilly, AMERICAN SOCKET BAYONETS & SCABBARD, p. 158, fig. S52A]. American made scabbards for imported Laukart system and Lorenz pattern musket bayonets brought into the country during the Civil War. Made of black bridal leather, 20.125” in length, oval in cross section, with two copper rivets [entering from the reverse], & 3.125” brass finial. Belt loop exhibits cracking, but no flaking. Side stitch tight. Scabbard displays moderate nicks consistent with age and usage. Finial is solidly attached and exhibits a medium coppery patina. Else VG, and not often seen. Lorenz musket aficionados take note.
