Operating out of Trenton, New Jersey, James Emerson entered the sword business in 1810 and teamed up with Joseph Silver from 1860 to 1865 to produce blades on military contract.

Rarely ever seen on today’s market scabbards from the American Civil War are very desirable.

Brass drag and throat in excellent condition with a dark untouched patina. Metal scabbard dark metal with minor surface pitting.

The scabbard throat, the mount base which holds the hook has a design cast.  [WS]
