Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 701-52

The blade on this sword is in nice condition. The surface is semi-bright with some light scattered mottling and no nicks to the edge. One side of the ricasso is marked with the inspector’s mark, initials and year of manufacture which reads “US JWC 1864” in three lines. The opposite side of the ricasso has a strong mark that reads marked “MANSFIELD & LAMB FORESTDALE, RI.” The original leather washer is present under the counterguard and is complete.

The hilt has a leather covered grip with twisted wire wrap. The leather shows moderate wear but the twisted wire wrap is 100% intact. The brass pommel cap, knucklebow and counterguard have a nice light patina and nothing is loose. Inspector’s initials also appear on top of the pommel cap.

Metal scabbard is complete with throat piece and both mounts and rings. The surface of the scabbard is dark with some light wear and moderate surface pitting. There are also a few minor dents toward the bottom of the scabbard.
