MODEL 1829 FRENCH ARTILLERY SABER

$450.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 701-55

Bright clean curved blade with only the smallest amount of mottling near the ricasso. True edge has several very small nicks that can be felt more than seen. Blade meas. approx. 32.50 inches long. Top of the blade by ricasso has French maker’s mark in script but it is too faint to read.

Hilt is the same as US Model 1840 light Artillery saber. Large brass pommel cap with a single brass knucklebow ending in a circular quillon. Grip is covered in black leather with twisted brass wire wrap. The wire is solid and shows little movement. Brass knucklebow is marked with #2079 as well as other French military markings.

Iron scabbard has a very nice dark rich patina throughout with both mounts and rings. No major dings or dents.

Very nice example of the post-Napoleonic French artillery saber.
