Classic unmarked Confederate cavalry saber minus the scabbard. Saber meas. approx. 36.50 inches in overall length.
The blade meas. approx. 32.00 inches long and has a dark surface with only the lightest scattered pitting throughout. The blade has a single unstopped fuller and an edge that is free of nicks.
Brass pommel cap is unadorned and shows multiple casting flaws showing crudeness of manufacture. Single knucklebow widens a bit at the base of the grip and ends in a plain quillon. Knucklebow has slight wiggle. Underside of counterguard is recessed to accept a scabbard throat.
Grip is tightly covered with thin rope instead of leather and wire. The dirt and color of the rope shows it has been there for quite a long time and may have been a field expedient.
Saber has wonderful character and is no doubt Confederate manufactured.
