Hanger has an iron blade with an iron “D” shaped handle and horn grip with an iron ferrule. All the iron surfaces on the hanger have numerous small marks of pitting giving the iron a salt and pepper look throughout.

Overall the hanger meas. approx. 26.50 inches. The single edged blade meas. approx. 21.25 inches long and is 1.50 inches wide at the ricasso tapering to a point. The top false edge is flat but narrows as it reaches the point. True edge has several nicks.

The hilt has a 4.00 inch grip made of horn that has aged nicely over the years and has a nice look to it. At bottom of the grip is an iron ferrule with linear decoration. Horn grip has a 2.50 inch slightly open crack running upward from the ferrule.

Rounded pommel cap has a ball at top and a lined cross decoration that is very light. “D” shaped knucklebow begins at the pommel and continues in a nice gentile downward curve until it makes a 90 degree angle to pass beneath the ferrule making a counterguard that widens slightly before ending in a rounded quillon. Knucklebow has slot for attaching sword knot.  [ad]
