MILITIA OFFICER’S EAGLE POMMEL SWORD

$1,695.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: E2676

A nice example of a mid-19th century militia officer’s sword. A wonderful single edge bright polished blade blued with gold wash. Obverse side of the blade with military motifs and floral designs in a gold wash with blue background. Reverse side similar military motifs and floral design. A near perfect blade retaining about 95% of the blue and gold wash.

Brass  hilt eagle head pommel with embellished backstrap. The flat embellished kuncklebow is typical of this time period, with floral spray. The languets on the obverse side has an American Eagle with a plain reverse side. A nice ivory reeded grip with a small chip near pommel cap.

Brass scabbard is silver plated, sans most of the silver. High embellished floral design etched into the scabbard along most of the scabbard. Scabbard with very minor dent is otherwise perfect.

A choice militia officer’s sword in outstanding condition.  [ws]
