Condition: Heavy gold adorns this sword which is one of Ames finest regulation swords. The guard is engraved and chased all the way from the quillon to the knuckle bow and pommel juncture on all 3 sides. The pommel itself is engraved and chased on the top. The pien is concealed with a brass cap. The grip is sharkskin with twisted brass wire wrap. The blade is one of the finest with 22.5 inches of the finest and most detailed of Ames "spider web" patterns along with the Ames address, Arms, Armor, American Eagle, EPU and foliate. The reverse is equally as fine with Arms, armor, a federal shield and a very unusual U.S. along with webbing and foliate. The scabbard is fine sharkskin with regulation gilt brass mounts. Middle mount is missing its retention screw.
