This officer sword has an engraved sheet silver grip with Knights helmet pommel and cruciform guard. The guard is cast with American eagle, arms, liberty cap and foliate on both sides. The etched blade is on a frost background. It has acorns & oak leaves a stand of American flags with a Liberty cap and the reverse has similar foliate with a stand of arms, an American eagle with E. P. U. and sun rays. The gilt brass scabbard has double top rings and a single middle ring on a gilt brass body with a raised center line. The drag is a thin blade. It is engraved with stylistic designs and stamped on the reverse “Ames Mfg. Co. / Chicopee / Mass.” and is needle etched in the same manner on the blade.
