MODEL 1840 CAVALRY SABER WITH SCABBARD FROM P.S. JUSTICE

$550.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 981-06

A very nice example of the classic "wristbreaker" used during the Civil War. The curved blade is over 36 inches in length. Lightly stamped at the ricasso is “P.S. JUSTICE / PHILADA”.  The blade has large and small gutters and is smooth with a dark drown patina. No nicks on the edge. The leather washer is missing.

The brass hilt has two branches and knuckle bow. The pommel is of the Phrygian helmet style and stamped with two small letters. All brass wears a pleasing mellow patina. The leather wrapped grip is in good condition as well as the double twisted brass wire wrap.

The steel scabbard wears a mottled gray/brown patina with only one small dent. It has two large, heavy iron mounting rings. A very large drag is at the bottom.  This is a nice example of a “Wrist breaker”!   [jet]
