The drawn saber meas. approx. 41.50 inches long from point to pommel. The blade is bright, clean and beautiful and meas. approx. 35.50 inches long. It has a 25.50 inch stopped, wide fuller and an 18.50 long narrow fuller. True edge has no nicks. Obverse ricasso is marked “US” over “A.D.K.” and the reverse ricasso is marked “AMES MFG CO.” over “CABOTVILLE” / “1850.” Buff leather washer is present and complete.
Hilt is in excellent condition. The brass domed pommel cap and three branch knucklebow have a very light patina and are tightly attached to the blade. Straight wood grip is wrapped in a black leather that shows almost no wear and is held by a perfect twisted brass wire. Top of pommel cap is marked “J.W.R.” and “A.D.K.”
Scabbard retains much of its original finish. It is undented and marked “A.D.K.” on the drag. Throat, both mounts and both rings are present.
