Overall the drawn saber meas. approx. 41.50 inches from point to pommel. The blade has a bright surface with very light scattered pitting. The blade has a wide stopped fuller and a narrow fuller above it. Overall the blade length is 36.00 inches long. True edge has one or two very small nicks. Obverse ricasso is blank while the reverse is marked “SHEBLE & FISHER” in an arc with “PHILADA.” across the bottom. Leather washer is present and complete.
Hilt is in good condition and is tight to the blade. Domed brass pommel cap, knucklebow and guard have a light patina. Knucklebow is the usual three branch configuration leading to a guard with a slightly bent quillon which is usually a sign of use. Straight wood grip is covered in black leather that is in good condition and shows minor wear. Twisted wire wrap is also solid. The face of the pommel cap has 6 notches carved in it.
The undented iron scabbard is turning a plumb brown in most areas. There are two areas of pitting that meas. approx. 1.50 x 1.00 inch. Both mounts and rings are present as is the throat.
The colors of the scabbard and hilt offer a pleasing presentation. [ad]
