Sabre was manufactured by and marked, “Mansfield & Lamb / Forrestdale RI”. Dated and inspected “US / L. D. / 1862” at ricasso. Exceptional leather wrapped grip with original twisted brass two strand wire wrap. Brass hilt with light patina. Pommel camp with inspector’s initials, “G. G. S.” Steel scabbard also very fine, with lightly stamped inspector’s initials. Blade is semi-bright and clean of any nicks or pitting. As good as it gets especially with a nice early war date.  [ss]
