M 1850 Foot Officer’s Sword. Nice condition foot officer sword with an upgraded drag. Brass guard has a nice dark patina. Sharkskin grip has slight fading from field use and double twisted wire. Blade has strong etch but has started to patina gray with some staining. Obverse etch is foliate - stand of arms - foliate / eagle - 13 stars above / foliate - union shield - flags - foliate. Reverse etch is C. Roby & Co Chelmsford Mass on ricasso / foliate - stand of arms - flags - foliate / US / stand of arms - foliate / union banner - foliate. Leather scabbard is in great condition. Brass mounts and drag have same dark patina as guard. Drag is an upgraded drag normally seen on presentation grade swords.
