Item Code: E2743

Infantry Officer’s Sword is in good condition and exhibits semi-gray blade. Sword is unmarked and is no doubt a product of the US. Has a red wool scalloped washer. Obverse side of the single edge, stopped fuller has a floral design etched into blade with the letters “US.” Reverse side panoply of arms, wingspread American Eagle above shield. Blade measures 31 ½ inches by 1 inch at the ricasso.

Brass hilt features a finely detailed two-paneled guard and knuckle-bow. Hilt retains most of the high-grade gilt finish as does the knuckle-bow, typical of US makers. Brass pommel cap decorated with ornate floral design, with traces of gilt finish. Very good condition original grips are tight with minor wear and consist of a grooved, wooden center, swell handle wrapped in high quality leather. Double-twisted brass wire is bound around the handle.

Leather scabbard only the body remains. Center seam on backside of scabbard. Sans all brass parts, throat, drag and the sword mounts. Leather is dry but stitching intact. [ws]
