[See Peterson, p. 26-27, fig. 24]. Sharply curved, single edged, with two fullers, measuring 35” in length, 1.375” in width at the base. Blade exhibits dark patina, with medium pitting throughout, and a few dings. Blade also bends slightly to left, with wavy distortion near tip. Characteristic Type 2 handle, set at an angle to the blade, with leather wrapped wood grips, wire wrap, and birds-head pommel with backstrap. Most of the leather is gone, while the wire remains tight & in place. Knuckle-bow is cut from a sheet of iron & bends evenly below the bow, pierced by a series of seven elongated slots. Both knuckle-bow and pommel backstrap exhibit same pitting as blade. Else VG, and a fine Virginia Manufactory display piece.
