This original hammer is made for the Model 1861 Springfield percussion rifle-musket. In excellent plus condition, this major musket component still retains is factory shiny-bright coloring save for few scattered areas of scuffing and light oxidation from storage. Thumb spur retains its checkered upper area and has all its edges sharp and defined as new. Reverse side near the hammer screw slot is stamped with sub-inspector mark ‘P.’
