$5,950.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 490-407

Superb example of the Civil War era 52. Caliber rimfire Spencer carbine manufactured by the Spencer Repeating Rifle Company, Boston, Massachusetts. This specimen contains approximate 95% of its original bluing on the 22” barrel. Also the case hardening process is present on the internal receiver. The receiver action is still tight and lock pull is strong as well. Other metallic parts - breech block, trigger guard / receiver lever, barrel band, hammer, & butt plate - all exhibit a mix of patina and gray with a spotty peppery look. The seven-shot repeater loading magazine tube located within the butt plate is present and is in operational condition. A very lightly stamped inspector’s cartouche is visible on the stock just opposite the tang of the sling/ring bar. The serial number is located at the top rear of the breech reads "34909", which places this weapon within the War period of 1863-1865, as the recorded serial numbers range from 11000-61000. The dark walnut stock and forearm are solid with just a few scattered scratches and dings. Bore is dark but shows strong rifling. A nice and above average condition Civil War period carbine.
