This carbine, also called a “Kammar – Karabiner”, features a large .71 caliber barrel with 12 lands and grooves with deep rifling. Originally known as a “tube lock” carbine, these short arms were altered to percussion after 1854 and many saw service in the American Civil War. Carbine measures 30” long overall and features a heavy, one piece stock. Stock is unmarked. Wood has been lightly sanded. Old repair to wood behind hammer. Forestock has a 4” long crack, and small section of wood missing. All metal surfaces have a dark olive patina with minor “peppering”. No lockplate markings. Mechanically perfect.
