.54 cal. single shot breech loader. Manufactured by the Burnside Rifle Co., Providence, RI. SN 7504 all matching. Approx. 43,000 5th Models were made c. 1863-65. This specimen has a nice walnut stock with a pair of deep inspector’s cartouches. Block retains nearly 100% of its original blued finish. Lock with Burnside Co. markings VG. Frame with traces of case colors. Balance turned a silver color. Barrel with a nice plum color and smooth. Excellent Plus bore. Mechanically perfect.   [ss]
