Produced by the Spencer Rifle Company of Boston, Massachusetts, this ten-pound Civil War Model 1860 Spencer breechloading repeating carbine is in very good original condition. Carbine, which fired the .52 caliber, “No. 56” Spencer rimfire cartridge, has a 22” long barrel and a two-piece black walnut stock.

Barrel wears a nice pewter/gray color. Has the large folding rear sight with slide and the brass “blade” front sight. Receiver, hammer and lockplate of matching color.  Bore has good, clean original six-groove rifling. Wood is original with a few dings or scratches. Stock is solid in every way. No inspector cartouches visible. Top flat of the receiver, forward of the hammer, is stamped with “SPENCER REPEATING / RIFLE CO. BOSTON MASS / PAT’D. MARCH 6, 1860”. Serial #34269 is located at the top rear of the receiver near the hammer.

Original sling bar and ring are tightly secured to the left side of stock. Retains the single swivel near the stock toe. Carbine frame screws remain in good shape. All metal surfaces of the carbine are smooth and appear to have seen light use. Original magazine tube and spring. Mechanics are crisp and strong.
