Produced by the Spencer Rifle Company of Boston, Massachusetts, this ten-pound Civil War Model 1860 Spencer breechloading repeating carbine is in very good original condition. The carbine, which fired the .52 caliber, “No. 56” Spencer rimfire cartridge, has a 22” long barrel and a two-piece black walnut stock.

Barrel wears a nice dark pewter color. Has the large folding rear sight with slide and the brass “blade” front sight. Receiver, hammer and lockplate of matching color. Bore has good six-groove rifling but is dirty. Top flat of the receiver is stamped with “SPENCER REPEATING / RIFLE CO. BOSTON MASS / PAT’D. MARCH 6, 1860”. Serial #40384 is located at the top rear of the receiver near the hammer. Original sling bar and ring are secured to the left side of stock. Retains the single swivel near the stock toe. Carbine frame screws remain in good shape. Original magazine tube and spring. Mechanics are crisp and strong.

Wood is original with a dings and nice saddle wear. Stock is solid in every way. No inspector cartouches visible.
