This is a Civil War-era .44 caliber rimfire cartridge for the Henry rifle. Known as the “.44 Pointed”, this cartridge features a round-nosed bullet with no grooves. The copper case has no headstamp. Crittenden & Tibbals operated from 1862 to 1866 and was then purchased by Schuyler, Hartley, Graham & Co. This is a perfect, clean specimen. Excavated Henry cartridges are quite common, however examples of these in non-dug condition are very uncommon. Very nice specimen and something that is missing from most Civil War bullet/cartridge collections. [jet]
