This is one of the “inner” sleeves from a full box of 42 Spencer cartridges. A complete box of Spencer ammunition contained six of these smaller boxes. Each “inner sleeve” held seven cartridges and was enough to fill the tube magazine in the Spencer butt stock.
This is a full sleeve and this particular ammunition is the .50 caliber, Model 1865, type where no grooves are visible on the bullet. The cartridges are rimfire and the cases are copper. No head stamps on these cartridges. The pasteboard box is complete but has two edges split open.
Great to display with a Spencer or to fill one of the larger “outer” boxes. [jet]
