This wood crate remains in excellent original condition and still retains its lid. It measures approximately 19” x 12 ½” x 8 ½”. The exterior is painted olive drab with a natural interior. Both ends are very nicely stenciled in white, “1000 / CARTRIDGES / AUSTRIAN / 54 / 100”. Under side of lid is stenciled in black, “COLUMBUS / JUNE 1862 / OHIO”. All stenciling remains very readable. Wood is strong with no rot.
This is a very rare Civil War ammunition crate for the Lorenz rifle. [jet]
