US NAVY FOULED ANCHOR POWDER FLASK BY AMES DATED 1843

$875.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1037-168

A complete U.S. Navy powder flask for use with the Jenks rifle, Ames 1842 boxlock pistol, and other naval firearms. The flask body has a medium, light copper color and the neck and spout are mellow brass. The repousse fouled anchor over a U.S.N. is crisp. There is just one dent about an inch below that mark and some scattered brown age spots. The top of the body has a small “P” inspection mark and the platform of the spout has a legible N.P. Ames makers stamp, a little rubbed on the right bottom, another “P” inspector’s mark, and an 1843 date. The spring is good. The carrying rings are in place. The cord modern of course. A very sharp looking flask.  [sr]
