EXCELLENT CONDITION FLASK FOR THE COLT REVOLVING RIFLE OR SHOTGUN BY THE AMERICAN FLASK AND CAP COMPANY

$495.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 30-2179

This rare flask is in excellent condition with all four rings in place, no big dents or open seams, a strong “eagle and stars” central motif on the obverse, functioning spring, and lots of original lacquer. The central motif is a raised, or repousee, die-strike with a prominent spread-winged American eagle clutching a US shield along with arrows and olive branch, beneath the arc of a sunburst with a pair of crossed revolvers above that, and surrounded by thirteen stars. The eagle sits upon a cannon and is flanked by US flags. Various military implements, and an anchor, litter the ground underneath. See Riling #797.

The flask is a tad under 8-inches tall and the spout is adjustable and nicely stamped  “AM. FLASK & CAP CO.” The thumbpiece is present. The spring is functional and retains its bright blue. The obverse retains lots of its original lacquer, giving the copper a very nice, undisturbed age patina with just some light spots from wear to high points. The reverse is more mottled from rubbing against the wearer’s body and has some shallow dings from wear, but nothing egregious. The brass collar shows some dark mustard color along the sides, but original bright color on the flat, with some stains, and on the spout.  [sr]
