.44 CALIBER DEERRINGER PISTOL

$975.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: G3216

This .44 caliber pistol marked Deerringer is a period copy of the fine pistols made by Henry Deringer. This particular example looks very much like the one John Wilkes Booth used to assassinate President Lincoln. The decoration is similar to the one Booth used but of poorer quality. However, this pistol would certainly work in a display of Lincoln assassination memorabilia.

The blued barrel is 3.00 inches long with crisp rifling on the inside. The walnut wood stock is decorated on the bird head grip with crosshatching and an elongated silver teardrop with a chased linear design. At the top of the grip is a silver shield with chased decoration along the edge. The lock is decorated with a scrollwork design and the word “DEERRINGER” is stamped on it twice. The hammer has a rather subdued scroll design and is plain on top. The action works but the half-cock is very low. The original nipple is present. The trigger guard, escutcheon plate and barrel tab plate all have a pineapple design. The top of the barrel at the breech is marked “DEERRINGER.” The right side of the stock has a closed crack running from the lockplate to the muzzle with another shorter closed crack just above it. The weapon displays well and would work in any display.
