POCKET MODEL 1849 COLT REVOLVER

$575.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 2-630

This Model 1849 Pocket Colt is .31 with a six inch octagon barrel and a five-shot cylinder. The serial number of 301336 indicates a production year of 1868.

A good bit of the bluing remains on the barrel and cylinder. The case colors on the frame, hammer and loading lever has turned mostly dark. The silver plating has also worn off the grip frame and trigger guard revealing the brass underneath.

The barrel has a number of small dings scattered along its length and the front sight is worn down to a nub. The top of the barrel is stamped “ADDRESS SAML. COLT NEW-YORK USA.” In one line. Stamping is strong. The cylinder retains approx. 90% of the scene and a weak but readable serial number. Front edge of cylinder shows wear as does area of stops. The left side of the frame is marked “COLT’S PATENT” and there is a strong “31 CAL.” stamp on the trigger guard. All the serial numbers match as does the wedge pin.

The action is a little stiff. Hammer holds at half cock and cylinder will spin freely. Weapon indexes properly. Hammer falls properly. All nipples on the cylinder look to be original. Nipples have a slight build- up of crud around bases. Grips show light wear and scratches on both sides. All screw heads are in good condition. Loading lever operates properly and catch holds it in place.

Bore has some wear but lands and grooves are clearly visible. Needs a good cleaning.

This weapon is complete, has the proper markings and operates but it is not the prettiest Colt out there. There are numerous small scratches to the surfaces especially around the wedge pin and barrel. It really does look to have been used.
