POCKET MODEL 1849 COLT REVOLVER WITH MATCHING SERIAL NUMBERS

$1,100.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 282-319

This Model 1849 Pocket Colt is .31 with a four inch octagon barrel and a five-shot cylinder. The matching serial number of 22706 indicates a production year of 1851.

Traces of the original bluing remain on the barrel and the case colors on the frame, hammer and loading lever have been reduced to hints here and there. The frame also exhibits some light signs of rubbing from having been cleaned. The silver plating has also worn off the grip frame and trigger guard revealing the brass underneath.

The top of the barrel is stamped “ADDRESS SAML. COLT-NEW YORK CITY” in two lines. The top line is strong while the bottom line is a little worn. The cylinder retains approx. 10% of the scene but has a strong readable serial number. Front edge of cylinder shows wear as does stops. The left side of the frame is marked “COLT’S PATENT” but it is slightly weak on the front end of the stamping. There is no military cartouche on the grips. All four serial numbers stamped on the bottom are strong and readable. Wedge pin also matches.

The action is a little sloppy. Hammer holds at half cock and cylinder spins freely. Weapon indexes properly but sometimes sticks a little. Hammer falls properly. All nipples on the cylinder look to be original. Nipples have a slight build- up of crud around bases. Most screw heads are good but one or two show some light wear. Loading lever operates properly and catch holds it in place.

Bore is good and needs cleaning.
