BEAUTIFUL IVORY GRIPPED .31 CALIBER ALLEN & THURBER 6-SHOT PEPPERBOX REVOLVER

$1,250.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 831-10

This is a nice looking and classic Civil War era six shot pepperbox pattern revolver. It has the 3 ½” barrel length that fires a .31 caliber bullet from the chambers. This one is the six shot version. The side of the cylinder has the Allen Maker’s mark as well as the Worcester, CT production location. You can also still see the 1837 patent date, and the quality mark of “CAST-STEEL”. On the side of the hammer you can still see the “ALLEN’S PATENT” stamping quite clearly. The action of the gun still rotates perfectly even after all of the years of use. The sides of the frame have the floral pattern scroll work.

The original 2-piece grips are present on the handle of the gun. What makes this gun stand out from the rest is the material that the grips are constructed of. These grips are made of ivory instead of the usual walnut. The grips have aged to a beautiful milky patina, with a wonderful look. On the inside of the triggerguard the assembly number “59” is still visible.

This is a nice looking and functional Civil War era pepperbox from the famous Allen & Thurber Company, with beautiful ivory grips.
