The overall length of this flintlock weapon is approx. 16.00 inches. The round .54 barrel meas. approx. 10.00 inches long. The surface of the barrel is bright showing a light cleaning. There is also some light scattered mottling with pitting near the breech and the barrel band. The muzzle area has a brass blade front site attached to the barrel while the rear site at the barrel tang is of concave iron. Though the weapon is flintlock there is an old, filled, threaded hole near the breech showing where a nipple was once placed. This shows that the weapon was reconverted to flintlock at some point. Barrel is stamped at breech with “JDJ / P / US.”

Lock has all original parts and all show even age and wear. Lockplate is rounded at front and pointed at back. Markings in front of hammer are only partially visible due to a build-up of dirt and pitting. Visible is “…ORTH…. S… CONN.” To the rear of the hammer is the date “1821.” Frizzen works as does the screw on the hammer. Brass pan is almost black in color. Sliding safety is present behind hammer. Action works well holding half and full-cock. Lockplate surface has a light patina and some pitting.

The original ramrod is present with swivel arms. Single barrel band and band spring are present and appear to have been lightly cleaned as has the triggerguard.

Wood stock has light inspector’s cartouche and iron escutcheon on side opposite lock. Bottom third of grip has a closed crack on one side otherwise stock has normal dings and dents from use, age and storage.

These Model 1819 pistols were made by North between 1819 – 1823.
