Presented here is a M1854 Lefaucheux pinfire revolver in very nice condition. Handgun was designed and produced by the highly acclaimed inventor of European firearms, Eugene Lefaucheux. Referred to as the Model 1854, the Lefaucheux revolver is a single action, standard military caliber arm produced at his licensed production facilities at Liege, Belgium.

In good overall condition, this pinfire revolver measures an overall 12” long with a six-shot unrebated cylinder matched to a 155mm (6 3/8”) long, round barrel. Sidearm is a 12mm (.44 caliber) model with a plain cylinder with the six safety cams and the six pin slots. Entire gunmetal of the revolver wears a smooth, dark surface color with some good case colors remaining on frame and buttplate. Serial number “39682” is stamped on the left side where frame meets barrel. Number is within range of weapons known to be imported for the war. Strong maker’s mark visible on the left facet of barrel. Cylinder also has good inspection marks. Bore looks to be good. The iron trigger guard fits the frame and exhibits the distinctive middle finger rest. Revolver’s grips are two-piece varnished black walnut in good condition with smooth even wear and no cracking or chipping. Buttplate has the metal lanyard ring and a faintly engraved set of initials and four digit number which may be a museum addition. Mechanics are good with a very low half-cock. Cylinder loading gate intact and functional.

A unique cavalry sidearm that was used by many during the war.  [ad]
