Serial number 1969. .42 cal. cup primed cartridge. Made c. mid-1860’s. 6 shot. 6” octagonal ribbed barrel with 99% original blue finish. Dark rosewood grips with center bolt. Brass frame with approx. 80% original silver plate finish. Left side of barrel is marked, “MERWIN & BRAY – NEW YORK”. Merwin and Bray were agents and financiers for the Plant Revolvers. Approx. 8,000 were made. The gun was privately purchased and many were carried during the Civil War as a personal sidearm. Mechanically perfect and a superb example.  [ss]
