IMPORTED ENGLISH MADE SINGLE SHOT FLINTLOCK PISTOL

$850.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 172-4244

Pistol is in very good condition. It meas. approx. 7.00 inches long overall and has a 2.25 inch barrel that can be unscrewed from the piece for cleaning. Both the barrel and the frame bear the number “11.”

The barrel surface retains approx. 30% of its blue and is decorated along the edge of the muzzle with a scalloped decoration.

Touch hole, pan, frizzen and hammer are located on top of the weapon. Moving backward from the point where the barrel meets the frame you have the frizzen first. The back of the frizzen has a plain linear decoration along its edges and the evidence of some strikes on its face. It works properly. Next is the pan which has a recessed center where the touch hole is. The edges of the pan are decorated with engraved oak leaves. The hammer has no flint and a linear decoration on its sides to match the frizzen. Behind the hammer is a sliding safety in the shape of a bar.

Just behind the barrel the sides of the frame are engraved with “CONSTABLE” on the left side and “PHILADELPHIA” on the right. Both sides of the frame also have a wonderfully engraved panoply of flags. The underside of the grip has two British production marks.

Wood grip is fine with dings to butt and small chip at left shoulder. Inlaid pewter oval on back of the grip has a clumsily scratched letter “E” on it.

Exterior of triggerguard is decorated with a starburst like decoration.

Bore is .44 and is clean. [ad]
