Presented here is a 12mm Lefaucheux pinfire revolver. Referred to as the Model 1854, the Lefaucheux revolver is a single action, military-caliber arm produced at Liege, Belgium. In very good overall condition, the pinfire revolver measures approximately 12” long. It has a 6 ¼” long barrel; front bead sight is missing. It is a six-shot, 12mm (.44 caliber) revolver. The cylinder has six safety cams and the six pin slots. All gunmetal wears a uniform dark, almost black, patina. The Lefaucheux “LF” mark and the serial number “23477” is stamped on the right side of frame under the cylinder. Remnants of the maker’s mark is visible on the left side of frame under cylinder, light and hard to discern. The iron trigger guard exhibits the distinctive middle finger rest. Revolver’s grips are two-piece varnished black walnut in good condition with smooth even wear and no cracking or chipping. Faceted buttplate has the metal lanyard ring. Mechanics are strong. Loading gate and cartridge extraction rod are both intact and functional. All metal surfaces exhibit excellent engraving of floral patterns, including screw heads and at the muzzle-end of the barrel.

This is a very attractive engraved example of a pinfire revolver designed and produced by the highly acclaimed inventor of European firearms, Eugene Lefaucheux.   [jet]
