Serial number 82370 produced in 1853. .31 caliber, 5 shot percussion revolver, 4” octagonal barrel, with 2-linemarking: “Address Saml Colt/ New York City.” Cylinder serial number has been damaged but under a glass it can be seen that it matches the rest of the gun, including the wedge, which though rusty, remains legible. Cylinder “Stage Coach” scene is clean and legible. Barrel and receiver metal exhibits dark gray patina, with minor nicks. Brass trigger guard and back & butt strap display some tarnish and medium coppery patina. Cylinder indexing moderately tight. Grips exhibit light wear and nicks customary with age and usage. Somewhat rusty bore. Else VG and handsome. A solid M1849 Pocket Colt. [JP]
