This pocket Colt is serial number 75358 and was produced in late 1853. The weapon is in overall nice condition. All surfaces have a uniform gray appearance with very little pitting if any. All numbers match including the wedge.

The octagonal barrel meas. approx. 5.00 inches long with a crisp stamping in two lines “ADDRESS SAML. COLT NEW YORK CITY.” Front bead sight is present.  Bore is .31 and is good with some spots of dirt that may scrub out.

The 5-shot cylinder has all of the original nipples with 25% - 30% of the cylinder scene present. Action works well but the half-cock safety does not hold when trigger is squeezed. Cylinder is tight at full-cock. Frame has strong “COLT’S PATENT” stamping in two lines on the left side. Frame screws are good.

Triggerguard and grip frame show some silver finish. More on the triggerguard than on the grip frame. Bottom of grip frame is engraved “NELSON.” Wood grips show wear to surface finish.  [ad]
