Item Code: 172-5059

This is an amazing cased pepperbox revolver set. The centerpiece is the double-action percussion pepperbox revolver in very fine original condition. The revolver is about a 90 bore (approximately .44 caliber), six-shot, cap and ball specimen with a silver-plated trigger and guard, a rotating 3 ½” fluted barrel, a nipple shield, and a bar hammer. Revolver frame, hammer, trigger guard, and backstrap are profusely engraved in a floral motif.  Left side of frame bears the maker’s name, “WILLM LING. / 61 JERMYN STT ST JAMES’S / LONDON”. The right side of the frame reads, “IMPROVED / REVOLVING PISTOL”. Revolver mechanics are crisp and strong. All nipples are original and unbroken. All screwheads are in excellent shape and those on the grip and at the muzzle are also engraved. Crown “proof” stampings appear on the flutes between each barrel. Each barrel is engraved with a number, “1” through “6”. Two-piece, varnished rosewood wood grips are excellent with beautiful depth to the grain.

The original wood case is well constructed with brass lock and hinges. No key for the lock. The interior is compartmentalized and lined in green felt. There are a few worn spots to the felt in the pistol’s compartment, but overall the lining is in perfect shape and presentable. There are a total of ten compartments, four of which have lids with ivory knobs. The components found within include, a screwdriver, a ramrod, three screw-in attachments (ball screw & cleaning jags), copper powder flask, bullet mould, loose round balls, loose pistol caps, and extra nipples. All of these components are in excellent condition. The extra nipples are kept in a small ivory container with a screw on lid.

A beautiful, original English bar hammer pepperbox revolver set in exceptional condition!    [jet]
