This is a Smith & Wesson, No. 2, Old Model Army Revolver. It is a .32 caliber, six-shot revolver with a 5” barrel, rosewood handles. Nice low serial number 2201. Production began in 1861 with revolver number 35,731 being made by May 1 1865.

All gun metal is smooth with dark gray patina and a few areas of light surface oxidation. Rosewood handles are very good with original dark color and finish. Stamping on the top of the barrel is strong: “SMITH. & WESSON. SPRINGFIELD, MASS.” Cylinder features worn patent stamp, “PATENTED APRIL 3, 1855, JULY 5, 1859, & DEC. 18, 1860.” Some light tool marks on the cylinder. Bore is clear with worn rifling. Mechanics are strong.
