Ser. No. 8434 [Mfg. 1861]. .44 caliber percussion revolver with 8” barrel, standard Colt barrel markings, 4 screw frame, and walnut grips, w/army inspector’s cartouche (somewhat worn) on left side, and cylinder naval battle etching present and visible. All serial numbers match, including the wedge. Crisp indexing action. Bore dusty with some pitting. All metal parts exhibit smooth consistent plum colored patina. Brass trigger guard sharp and bright. Grips display light wear & scratching consistent with age and usage. Else VG. Very solid 1861, 4 screw Colt. Excellent collectible, nicely priced.   [jp]
