Circa late 19th Century. Measures 2.75 x 16.5 x 8.75”. Empty box, medium brown in color, handsomely trimmed in darker wood round the edges. Upper lid has blank, brass shield, 1 x .875”, perfectly centered. Bottom front key lock (key missing). Upper lid interior carpeted in blue velvet, bottom interior flooring is missing, leaving smooth wood with darkened patina. Else VG. In all, a handsome antique box can that can stand alone, or could be easily refurbished with interior velvet - as a display piece with storage capacity. Plus a blank, front lid shield for possible engraving. [jp]

This sword was probably sold by Schuyler, Hartley & Graham of New York. The pattern is pictured in their 1864 catalogue in figures 13 and 16. Rather than have a standard blade, the lightly curved 32 inch blade has "B.K." (Battery K) on the left… (870-447). Learn More »
