NICE COLT MODEL 1862 POLICE REVOLVER MANUFACTURED IN 1863

$2,950.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 862-03

Manufactured from 1860 until 1873, this model revolver was very popular with
Civil War officers and civilians during that time period. Similar to a Model 1851 Colt Navy with the exception of being a smaller frame revolver. The frames are almost identical with the pocket model. The most obvious difference is the fluted 5-shot cylinder and the round barrel.

Barrel length is 6 ½” with Colt marking, “Address Col. SamL Colt New-York US America” visible on top. The fluted cylinder retains some of its bluing and is marked “PAT. SEPT 10TH 1850”. All nipples original and in excellent condition. Safety pins are all hammered down.

Frame has “Colt’s / Patent” left side. Back strap and trigger guard nice clean brass. Wood grips original and in good condition with light wear to bottom edges. “36 cal.” marking on left side of trigger guard.

All serial numbers matching, #15537, which placed the date of manufacture in early 1863. Mechanically very good with sharp action. Barrel retains 40% blue with all gun metal having a smooth surface with no pitting. Frame and hammer also retain some original finish colors. A nice Colt revolver manufactured during the Civil War.  [jet]
