MARTIALLY MARKED ROGERS & SPENCER REVOLVER

$995.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 2020-815

Weapon is .44 caliber and has a 7 ½” octagonal barrel with a six-shot round cylinder, hinged type loading lever, full frame and walnut grips.

The octagonal barrel retains traces of the original blue. Muzzle has a small brass conical front sight. Under the barrel is an operating loading lever that still shows original case colors. The serial number on the top of the loading lever is 524 and it matches throughout the weapon.

The frame also retains some scattered blue finish. Frame is clearly stamped at top with “ROGERS & SPENCER / UTICA N.Y.” Bottom left side of the frame bears a matching serial number. Screw heads are in nice condition throughout. The cylinder itself retains much of its blue color and bears a matching serial number. All nipples are original to the weapon and in very good condition. There is a wear rings on the cylinder from movement. Action is strong and crisp.

Grip frame has matching serial number. Walnut grips show light wear on edges but are otherwise nice. Left side bottom has a crisp military inspector’s mark of “R.P.B.” Many of the separate components have small letter stamps from a sub-inspector.

Approximately 5,800 of these weapons were made in 1865 with the US government taking delivery of 5,000.  This is a low numbered and nice condition example.  [jet]
