A very good condition, single shot .50 caliber cap and ball percussion pistol is a product of gunmaker Richard Hollis of London, England. In very good overall condition, the pistol measures a total of 9½ long fitted to a checkered walnut stock with all German fittings. A finely engraved triggerguard, lockplate, hammer, and barrel breech area mated to a 5¾” long, octagonal barrel ornately engraved with “London Fine Twist” on the top barrel facet. The flat German-silver lockplate shows ornate floral engravings with “Rich Hollis” behind the fish head hammer. Grips feature a finely checkered, one-piece walnut handle with a ‘bag’ profile. A small oval escutcheon of silver is inlaid in upper portion of the grips with additional silver fittings at the locking barrel wedge. Barrel tang back of the hammer ornately engraved. Mechanically tight and strong. Nipple original but battered down some. All exterior metal surfaces appear to have been lightly cleaned at one time. An unusual specimen of an imported single shot pistol and a wonderful piece to add to any pistol collection.
