Manufactured by Harpers Ferry Armory were manufactured between 1845 to 1855. They are single shot .54 caliber muzzleloaders. It has a round barrel fastened by two bands. All iron parts has an overly cleaned semi-bright patina. Lock plate markings are the eagle motif / US forward of the hammer and at the rear of the lock is HARPERS/FERRY/1854. Barrel has no visible markings except 474, probably a rack number. Barrel is semi-bright with very good rifling. Stock is made at Harpers Ferry from walnut. It has been lightly sanded and no cartouche is visible.  All brass has been lightly cleaned.  Buttplate is also stamped 474. Ramrod is correct but it is a reproduction.
